Cartwheels... of life.

First of all, Oanh is pronounced like the name "Juan". So whenever I tell my friends about the hot new babe in my life, they look at me strangely and think among themselves that my pursuit of fluency in Spanish has gone too far.

Look at this photo. It represents everything that I need in a good friend: someone that I can do cartwheels over. Do I mean literal cartwheels, or proverbial cartwheels - of life? That is for you to decide. Perhaps life is just one giant cartwheel, flipping over the head of one lady after another, never knowing where you're gonna land. God... that's deep...

Oanh is awesome because she is unpredictable. I never know what she is going to do next, what kind of bad decisions she will make in my absence, and what wonderful surprises she has in store for me. Hanging out with her is like walking through a field of land mines (ladies, eat your heart out - this one's a charmer). One moment you'll be walking along, minding your own business, and the next moment you'll be on the floor with your leg blown to smithereens (the flames from the explosion sealed the wound, luckily), screaming "Medic!". You may be thinking, "Oh that Chui, he's really crazy." And you'd be right. But this really happened.

Oanh is awesome because she is mischevious. Who knows what wonders abound when a girl has a sense of humor? This is one of the most important things with a lady... she must understand my mischief and my desire to get in trouble. Oanh isn't afraid of getting in trouble. In fact, she isn't afraid of anything. Just a few days before we met, she literally wrestled a large pit-bull to the ground for the pure sport of it. She suffered a bad bite on the hand, but that pitbull won't be biting little kids around the neighborhood for a long time now.

Finally, Oanh is awesome because she's a sweetheart. Beneath that bad-girl exterior, I know that Oanh is a very kind and giving person. She has been through way more shit in her life than I have, and despite it all she has not grown cynical - but remains hopeful for the future.

I'm going to fly halfway across the country to see her in a few days, and I can't wait.

This series is my tribute to Oanh, because I think she is beautiful.
